Middle School Principal's EARCOS Job-A-Like Wiki Space Dear EARCOS MS Administrators,
I have set up this wiki space to help facilitate our job-a-like session. This should not be too far removed from what we have done in the past in setting up topics for our conversations. With any luck here is how it will work; If you look at the column to the left, you will see several topics listed in blue. Each one of these topics is its own page. Clicking on it will take you to the page. To add text to the page all you need to do is click on the “edit this page” button near the top of the tab. You will notice that I am now typing in blue with a yellow background. This way, you know it’s me. I suggest that when we type on the pages we all do something similar. The easy way to do this is to type your entry in Word (or whatever) and copy and paste it to the wiki. If you have a topic you would like to add, look at the upper left corner of the page and you will see that you have the rights to add a new page.
Adding a document to any page is as easy as adding an attachment to an e-mail. It is best that if you add a document that the title is descriptive and it contains the name of your school. To comment on your document or anyone else’s, you can click on the discussion tab.
If you plan to post an article you will want to make sure that you are not violating copyright law. As a general rule, if an article is online and is not password protected, you can post the link directly with no problem.
Why might we want to do this you ask?
I hope that the discussions we have will lead to connections between us prior to the conference. Once at the conference, we can use the wiki to set up times and places to meet with each other and continue conversations that we have enjoyed in cyber-space. We can also use the wiki to set up a schedule that will help us make the best use of our time during our job-a-like session.
Now, if you are thinking that this is just too techy for you, please know that I just learned how to set this space up, post documents and comments. It took all of about 15 minutes. If I can do it, I am sure anyone can!
